American Cinematographer's "On the Spot" column (November 1996) — "High-Stakes Shooting" by Mary Hardesty follows cinematographer Garry Waller on the New York New York Hotel and Casino commercial. Since the real hotel was still under construction, Vision Crew Unlimited built and photographed a 1/4-scale model of the hotel (the behind-the-scenes photograph is by Evan Jacobs), composited with location-shot Las Vegas footage; special effects are credited to Vision Crew Unlimited.
